    The Dandenongs is a wonderfully scenic and vibrant corner of Victoria, with much to see and do. A host of various events and activities await any visitor to the area.

    The Dandenongs is perfect for an overnight stay or short break from Melbourne, and there is no better time to visit the region then during the regions ‘Spring Fest’. Held for six weeks from mid-September to the end of October visitors can experience the natural beauty of the Dandenong Ranges at its best with a festival of gorgeous gardens, delightful villages, cosy cottages, delectable dishes and amazing agribusiness. Events include, open gardens, tours and guided walks, garden lectures & workshops, food experiences, agribusiness tours and shows, music and art events, flower shows, children’s and family activities.

    Visit Thomas the Tank Engine at ‘A Day Out With Thomas,’ at Puffing Billy or, for the more adventurous, race the mighty Puffing Billy on the annual Great Train Race. The much publicized and celebrated event incorporates a 13.2 kilometre course through the Dandenong Ranges, plotting the average runner against the famous train.

    Another signature event of the Dandenongs is the annual Hillside Film Festival, showcasing some of the best short films produced by the under 30. Taking place every February and organised by the Burinja Cultural Centre, the Festival is particularly unique as it takes over the impressive Outdoor Cinema at Cameo Cinemas. The cinema itself is set amongst the stunning backdrop of the Dandenong Ranges.
