Getting Here

From the City

The Dandenong Ranges is located just 50kms to the east of Melbourne’s CBD, a comfortable hour’s drive. When coming from the city, follow the Eastern Freeway (M3)* just past Ringwood, take the State Route 32/Canterbury Road exit, continue on Canterbury Road to Montrose, turn right onto the Mt Dandenong Tourist Road.

*Toll way: On the Eastern Freeway, the section from Springvale Road to Ringwood Bypass is a toll way. If your car doesn’t have a toll tag you can buy a trip pass online, over phone, or from a Post Office before or within 3 days after the trip. You can drive through without a tag and EastLink will send an invoice to the registered owner or driver of the car (this option includes additional fees). Non-toll way: Alternatively, exit the Eastern Freeway at Springvale Rd, continue on Springvale Road for 3km, then turn left onto Canterbury Road. Continue on Canterbury Road to Montrose, turn right onto the Mt Dandenong Tourist Road. This way is toll free.

 

From the Airport

Head towards the City on the Tullamarine Freeway (43) this will then merge onto CityLink (M79)* Take the National Route 79 exit towards FLEMINGTON ROAD/EASTERN FREEWAY.

Turn slightly left onto Flemington Rd/National Route 79 then turn left onto Elliott Ave/State Route 83 (signs for Elliot Avenue/Coburg). Continue to follow State Route 83, take a slight right onto Eastern Freeway/M3 (signs for Doncaster) Continue to follow M3. Take the State Route 32/Canterbury Road exit, continue on Canterbury Road to Montrose, turn right onto the Mt Dandenong Tourist Road.

Public Transport 

Travel by train to Hurstbridge, Lilydale or Belgrave. Various bus companies run services between towns and villages in the region.

Myki is Melbourne’s ticket to travel on the city’s trains, trams and buses. It is a durable smartcard that stores value and can be used over and over again. Using myki is simple and gives you the flexibility to travel on trains, trams and buses all around Melbourne in Zones 1 and 2.
